Our statement of faith

What we believe, and what that means in the room

We are Linden Park Baptist Church, and Pawpaw Preschool is one of our ministries. We believe in one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe the Bible is his word, that Jesus is his Son, and that God made each child and loves them.

We write this down so you do not have to guess. If it is not what you are looking for, we would rather you knew before the tour than after the first week.

In the room

What a child hears, and what a child is never asked to do

Three things children hear through the week, and three things we never ask of them.

  • A Bible story and a prayer

Each morning at circle, a teacher tells a short Bible story and says a simple prayer. The fours room adds a weekly chapel hour in the sanctuary.

  • A blessing and songs

We say a blessing before snack and sing a few songs through the week, some from church and some that are only for fun.

  • A verse a week

Each room learns one short verse a week. We say it together, and no child is asked to say it alone.

  • No pressure to pray

A child who would rather listen quietly during a prayer may do so, and no teacher asks why.

  • No decisions asked of children

We tell children what we believe. We do not ask a child to make a faith decision, and we do not ask families to join the church.

  • Other faiths are welcome

Families of other faiths and of none are part of Pawpaw. Tell us about your family's practices at the tour, and we will listen.

Questions

Questions about faith

What if our family has a different faith?

You are welcome. Tell us at the tour, and we will go through what a day includes. A child who would rather listen quietly during prayer may do so.

Do the teachers all belong to the church?

The teachers share the church's faith, and they are glad to talk about it. They also care for every child the same way, whatever a family believes.

Is a family asked to attend the church?

No. Church services are for anyone who would like to come, and enrolling a child does not ask anything of the family on Sunday.

What about holidays?

We mark Christmas and Easter with songs and a story, and we say what is happening and why. The Christmas program is in December for families.
